The seminar will discuss:

The speakers will include Jeremy Wright, CITB, John Cartwright & Gary Riches of Hartlepool College, Susan Dawson of Northumbria University and Paula Merifield from The Government Education Department.

Big Quiz Night 2018

We are delighted to be holding our annual quiz night and we would be delighted if you were able to join us for a fun filled evening with a variety of themed rounds to test everyone’s ability.

Preserving historic buildings is vital to understanding our nation’s heritage. In addition, it is an environmentally responsible practice. Existing buildings can often be energy efficient through their use of good ventilation, durable materials, and spatial relationships. Some practical benefits of historic preservation include retention of history & authenticity, economic benefits, retention of building materials and reuse of infrastructure.

Through this, we are delighted to welcome along to this breakfast briefing, Sunderland City Council, Datim Building Contractors.

We will hear from:
– Ian Smithwhite at Sunderland City Council who will give an overview of Roker Pier, the restoration work which has being carried out and the operation of it as a whole including visitor attraction space.
– Tim Barrett at Datim Building Contractors who will present on the Award winning Lindisfarne Castle plus some general issues of working on a heritage building project
– Case study on the Darlington Hippodrome

What  will the Construction Sector Deal bring to the North East?

We are pleased to be holding a seminar discussing The Construction Sector Deal and how it links to the Transforming Construction fund, which commits £170m of Innovate UK funding alongside £250m from industry over the next 4 years.

Between them, the Construction Sector Deal and Transforming Construction aim to create a modern, dynamic, productive construction sector. The outcomes of this policy and funding aim to create skilled jobs, deliver energy efficient and affordable homes.

The speakers will explain what the CSD and Transforming Construction fund are, and their aims and objectives.  Find out how to access Transforming Construction, and what the CSD and funding could mean for all members of the construction sector, including clients, in the North East.

Fergus Harradence, Deputy Director, Construction Team, Infrastructure and Materials, BEIS will look at the Construction Sector Deal and what benefits this will have for the North East. Following this Tom Jarman from the Construction Leadership Council and Newcastle City Council will discuss the Transforming Construction Fund and the advantages.

Finally Peter Watson, Partnership Director at Ilke Homes will look at what could Transforming Construction Fund mean to an business?

• The main recognised delay analysis techniques;
• Pros and cons of each;
• What the courts require;
