This is an exceptionally important event within the Regions Calendar as it allows you, the Membership to have a direct say in how the Committee is ran and the focus and direction you wish to see over the coming year.

In addition to receiving an update on what’s been undertaken over the last twelve months, members will also be able to vote for new Committee Members who will preside over what is expected to be another busy and productive year.

Annual Dinner

Join us for the seminal social event in the North Easts and Cumbria Region’s social calendar. Following last year’s successful event where we raised over £1,000 for the Chairman’s Charity, in addition to providing an exciting night of entertainment and guest speakers for nearly 200 guests we intend to repeat this for 2017.

The evening will again be held in the Assembly Rooms, Newcastle Upon Tyne on the 19th October.

Further details including the evenings entertainment are expected to be announced throughout the year.

 Annual Awards

In addition to the Dinner, the North East and Cumbria Region will also be continuing their tradition of presenting the Annual Awards which celebrate the very best projects that companies and individuals working within the Region can offer across the highways and transportation sector.

These Awards are available for sponsorship, are also open to everyone: members and non-members, small and large organisations, public and private sector. Expressions of Interest are now open until 30th June, for the following categories:

  • Young Professional Award

Awarded to a young person, aged 35 years and under, on 1st September 2017, who has made a significant and exceptional contribution to the development of highways and transportation.

  • Sustainability Project of the Year Award

Awarded to projects, products, policy initiatives, research or strategies delivered by the highways and transportation industry that demonstrate a contribution to sustainable working, or by people/teams working in the Region.

  • Project of the Year Award

Awarded as a mark of recognition where innovation, imaginative concepts, excellence and best practice within the highways and transportation sector have contributed to an outstanding project, small or large, where a marked positive benefit has been achieved in the North East & Cumbria, or by people/teams working in the Region.

This year we have also decided to include the following;

  • Apprentice of the Year Award

Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated an excellent progress early within their career within highways and transportation. In addition to demonstrating an aptitude for their daily duties they have went above and beyond to add value to their businesses and assist their colleagues.

A brief presentation will be followed by a practical workshop looking at audit recommendations and dealing with the Design Team Response, Client Response and any Exception Report.

The session will count towards CPD time and should be of benefit to anyone involved in the design process:- whether designer, auditor, client, project manager of developer.
