In April 2017 the way apprenticeships are funded is changing. All employers with a payroll of over £3 million will automatically pay an Apprenticeship Levy. Smaller employers with a payroll bill under £3m will be able to access funding to cover 90% of the costs of apprentice training.

Degree Apprenticeships are a new Government Initiative, bringing together the best of higher and vocational training.

From September 2017, Northumbria University will be delivering a new part time route with the potential to deliver more student and industry value.

The Chartered Surveying Degree Apprenticeship has been wholly developed by surveyors, the RICS and higher education.

We would like to invite you along to our first launch event for the new programme, to gauge demand and also give you the opportunity to meet a number of our students currently on the Foundation Built Environment programme, a number of which are keen to progress along the RICS route

Constructing Excellence in the North East Club are delighted to be working with our Constructing Excellence Asset Management Group in delivering you this half day seminar surrounding Asset and Facilities Management on a construction project.

Some say the single most damaging mistake in industry today is the common practice of overlooking asset management concepts during the design, construction and start-up of major new facilities. The global cost of this poor management practice is truly astronomical. New facilities experience excessive unplanned downtime, resulting in excessive costs and loss of critical production due to quality and quantity issues. These losses can be avoided by implementing proper business processes and good operational planning prior to facility start-up.

But, where do we start? Operating practices? Maintenance practices? Design?

At this seminar we will hear from:
Tom Cudmore of the Constructing Excellence Asset Management Group. In February Constructing Excellence joined Whole Life Plus (WLP+), a project which has secured Innovate UK and EPSRC funding to research how building performance can be improved to enhance worker productivity and well-being to create happier, healthier and more productive workplaces. Tom Cudmore from LCMB will talk about the details of the WLP+ project and share the initial research findings from the first quarter, which has looked at the impact of different environmental changes on workplace performance
