Constructing Excellence in the North East in association with DAC Beachcroft LLP are delighted to be holding a series of CPD seminars across 2018 covering a range of Contract Law topics. This one entitled ‘NEC4 – Changes to NEC3′ covered by Roddy Gordon, Partner of Construction & Engineering at DAC Beachcroft.

The NEC contracts are published by the Institution of Civil Engineers. The first contract published was the first edition of the New Engineering Contract in 1993. A new suite of NEC contracts were developed in 2005 (revised and re-published in 2013) which are known as NEC3.

In 2017, a new NEC4 suite of contracts was published to update and, ultimately, replace the NEC3 suite. The changes introduced in the NEC4 contracts are described by the NEC as an evolution of NEC3, i.e. they are intended to be enhancements to the NEC3 contracts, rather than a full overhaul of the suite

The seminar will discuss some of the main features of NEC3 and the (relatively few) changes made in NEC4.
